No likie.
Lose too much pressure/energy thru the nipple.
No real difference on cap disintegration.
Going back to TRESO.

Your experience?

I like Slix-Shot a whole lot better factory nipples. But I prefer Treso nipples on my cowboy action match revolvers.

I don't know about pressure loss through the side vents in the nipples, never compared Slix-Shots with Tresos on a chronograph. Tresos just seem to produce fewer cap fragment jams between the cylinder and the water table for me. Keeping a reasonably strong hammer spring, filling in the slot on the hammer face, and using moderate powder charges have been the keys to prevent cap fragments from falling back into the hammer slot on my open tops.

YMMV

My pair of 2nd Gen 1861 Navies and Pietta 1860 Sheriff's models work great with Slix Shots. Both pair have had the actions smoothed & the Navies have cap rakes. My Uberti 1861 Navies that have been smoothed didn't like the Slix Shots so the Tresos got put back in them.

My take is that the Slix Shots are light years ahead of stock nipples; but Tresos are more so.

I currently have two of my Colt Navies fitted with SS nipples. One is the .44 1851 Pietta Navy (I know, I know...), and the other my short barreled .36 Sheriff Model. The other three have Pietta nipples. Shooting all side by side, I really can't see any difference in performance. So I doubt I will pony up the $36 for another set. One thing though, they do clean up pretty! ;)

I dunno. The treso nipples I have been able to find say they need an oversize tap, which suggests that any modification to the cylinder is irreversible.

I have put Treso nipples into Ruger, Uberti, and Pietta revolvers. If you order the ones for your particular revolver they just screw in. Never heard of an "oversize tap" being needed.

The Possibles Shop in Roswell, NM, shows all Treso sizes in stock except for Uberti Walkers and Dragoons.

The big thing for me is that I like how the caps slip on without the need for major force fitting. The stock nipples just have too much taper and they either fit too tight or not tight enough depending on the gun. So some I need to press on with a push tool I made up and the others need the caps to be pinched.

All in all even if they don't result in less shard issues I'll be happy if I can just push on the caps straight from the tin without needing to pinch them first (bruises my delicate digits doncha'know :D) or ram them home with a grunt and beads of perspiration popping forth.
