today I took my Buckmark 5.5 URX Stainless .22 to the range. I just put on a MatchDot sight and wanted to sight it in an mess around a little.

I like the sight, but I started to get interested in the recoil pattern. The sights (easy to see now with the MatchDot) were recoiling up and left, over and left, and occasionally, down and left. Being a smart guy I sensed a pattern here. I heard somewhere that how you pull the trigger has a big effect on recoil patterns. I then started to pay attention to the way I was pulling the trigger.

Eventually I found a specific spot on the palm of my shooting hand where, if I imagined that I was pulling the trigger back to that spot (instead of firing the gun) most of the recoil just went away. The recoil became straight up and only about to the top of the 1 1/2" target (at 25 yards). A huge difference.

Nice day, uncrowded range, no pressure...just a fun few hours messin' with my .22. :D

Could be worse.
