now what you are not understanding, is that there IS no 'well balanced debate with them regarding' anything. They are not here to debate, but to fire a salvo, and boogy. Well meaning debate on our part will not alter their twisted world view, and this type of discourse only leads to conflict among ourselves. I still say the best course of action is to identify them for what they are, state that you have them zeroed in, and then invoke cloture.

I have never been called a Troll but I have gotten mixed up in some pretty controversial, spirited dialog type strings.
Frankly without something to keep my blood flowing I would probably fall asleep and off my chair.
So, I get on my bike and go for a ride. As I ride along, I think about not which lyman bullet is better, the 311291 vs the 311284, but how can some allededly rational person actually think it's OK to kick down my door?
Here's my conclusion. We don't get many Trolls here because everybody for the most part is so civilized. Of course, I did see a guy use a cussword once.
The Troll would druther go somewhere where it can stir the pot and get some outrageous responses and fiery words. That is not here.
And youse guys that think THR is getting too outa control? I suggest you get off THR and start taping and watching "Wall Street Week".

There is a general problem with "trolls", they are godless. You may ask, what does being godless have to do with guns? Even if they believe in God, but they just don't believe God has a place in our daily law, what does that have to do with guns? Simple. The opposing thought then is to do that which is anti God, whether conciously or unconciously.
It is mostly unconcious, taught and bred into their genes from their youth, until they act ungodly on their own. Look at the 3 biggest social issues of the day; abortion, end of life issues, the death penalty. They are for death in two instances , and for life in the other. The two most innocent type people , they want their deaths, and for some of the most vile people ever, they want life.
There are many reasons for this, but the main, subconscious line of thought that is occuring, is that they are rebelling against authority. Especially as these type of people are mentioned in the Bible, and ultimately fall under God's authority. For some , it is a finger in the eye, of the Establishment, especially conservative establishment, with God as the ultimate conservative authority, and how dare we tell them how to live, you who act like you think you know God.
Guns are not Liberal, they are not of the enlightened class, intellectual,
they who think sit down at a table , and discuss, work things out, philosophize, so to speak.
Guns and gun owners have and show none of that, we see in black and white, good or evil, which is to say , God or the devil, and we make decisions based upon these simple attributes. We don't need court, we don't need talks, discussions, and the like. Also It ulimately shows we make decissions based on our steadfast beliefs, and are immediately ready to act.
The anti gunners say, who are you, you cannot allways be right, how can you judge, how can you judge me, who are you to be so sure of yourself, there is no right and wrong, it is subjective, there are only shades of grey, etc.
The above statement by them, to themselves, if you look at it , is one big anti-God rant. You are established in your faith in God, They don't know Him or never have trusted Him in their daily lives.
Nor do they want that kind of responsibility or personal accountability in their lives, and ultimately guns are the ultimate dividing line when used with these attributes, they are much more comfortable passing this authority onto a court, the government , the U.N. , whatever body they have access to , as long as it is not themselves.
The bible states by Solomon, "100 men sitting at a table can accomplish many things, but one man of rebellion destroys much." The movie Cool-hand Luke says, " What we have here is , failure to communicate. Some men... you just can't reach, so you get what we have here today. Which is the way he wants it...well , he gets it!"
In either condition, Like with Sadam husseim for instance, there are some who will never do or say or agree with what is the right thing to do , who are allways looking to ruin it for everbody else. Someone of the 100 men have to make a choice, and physically do that which is unpleasant. to make the hard , dirty, black and white choice, to actually , Physically get rid of another bad, evil person. This means you believe you are good and right. This is a hard thing, for the anti-gunner to understand, or to ever submit to. This is the same as the choice you would have in using your gun on someone else, it is a lot to assume you are dead dog right, and most anti's don't believe any singular person has that much virtue, innocence, or authority to self judge, nor carry out a verdict without higher, intellectual discussion, especially without those who have higher, enlightened education.

Why DO we call them Trolls?
Do they troll as in fish with lures; or,
do they just "get our goats" as in
Three Billy Goats Gruff and the Troll?

Well I believe in God and guns, but I do not believe in the death penality. Does that make me a troll?

Trolls are an phenomenon that goes back to the earliest days of Usenet, 14.4 Baud modems, Prodigy, and text-only communication.
Rangerruck gives them far too much weight. The bottom line is that trolls are a pest on the internet. They inhabit every forum, board, blog, chat room and guest book.
For whatever reason, trolls find it more entertaining to come into a community, and engage in whatever behavior it takes to get people stirred up and frothing.
The real life label for a troll is something everyone here knows: Jerk.
Let the mod staff take care of the trolls when they show up. If someone is getting your goat, then step away from the thread and take a breather.
And remember: It's just THE INTERNETS!*
