have a Kahr PM9 and, unfortunately, I just can't draw it reliably from a pocket. I have both DeSantis Nemesis and Mika pocket holsters and I just can't get it to come out of a pocket without hanging up or pulling the holster out with it. I'll admit that I'm not the most dexterous person around, but I tried both holsters with several different brands of jeans and Dockers (both pleated and unpleated) and I was lucky to get it to come out 3 out of 5 times. And since my Kahr is pretty slim (.9"), I assume I'd have trouble with any automatic. On the other hand, my S&W 642 comes out of any pocket, again using either a DeSantis Nemesis or Mika, slick as a whistle every time.

I think I'm going to order and IWB holster from Mika for the Kahr and see how that works.

Does anybody else have this problem with Kahrs or any other automatics?

Pocket draw is one of the slowest due to the fact your entire hand is constricted in the draw process. Your not alone.

I would recommend a Don Hume holster (if you can get your hands on one). It is the best I have found for my Kel Tec. But the Kel Tec is not nearly as heavy as the Kahr so I am not 100% positive that your results would be that much better.

Javelin,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I was thinking about the Kel-Tec as it is even slimmer and lighter than the Kahr. Which do you recommend, the .32 or the .380?

.380 for sure! I was so seriously torn between the Kahr PM9 and the P3AT. The thing that did it was the fact the KelTec only weighed in at 10oz fully loaded. That means I can carry everywhere.

The Kahr was so well made but sacrifice is that its heavy and thicker. So I chose the Kel-Tec b/c I could keep on me all the time. I mean all the time**** Hell you can stick it in the back of your underwear elastic band and have it around the house for god sakes! Damn thing is so handy you sometimes forget you have it on you. But the key is you know you always have it.
Good Luck!

Also take a look at this holster. This is what I am getting for my PM9. It has a finger push and a hidden flap for multi use carry.

Tequila Jake, adjust your draw so that your thumb rides the back of the slide until your thumb clears the pocket. Then slide it back to its rightful place.

You don't need to be a contortionist. Just find a comfortable place for your thumb so it's out of the way when you draw. Once you've found that sweet spot, practice a deliberate draw that begins with your thumb in that spot each time. You should find that the holster stays where it belongs.
