Hi,

I have a Dillon 650xl. I am using the Dillon 3-die set and am loading 55gr FMJBT bullets. The problem I am having is that the bullet seating die isnt seating the bullet down far enough. The OAL of my cases is coming out to 2.265-2.270

I have the bullet seating die cranked all the way down till its almost smashing the shell plate, and the adjustment stem is also bottomed out. I even had to take the lock nut off it to get it to thread as far as it would go, yet my OAL is still too long.

Can you guys help me figure out what is wrong, or what I am doing wrong?

Thanks!

Sounds like the part that actually pushes the bullet is missing. You need to disassemble the seating die and have a look.

A call to Dillon support is also highly suggested.

I just called Dillon. The stem I have with my .223 seating die has a "30" on top of it. The Dillon guy said that didn't sound right, and would get back with me.

Can one of you guys check your Dillon .223 seating die and tell me if, and what number it has on top of the seating die stem?
