I recently bought a Manurhin PP from Centerfire Systems.
When I dry fired it, the hammer drop safety worked normally.
Now after I put 100 rounds through it, the hammer doesn't drop when the safety is applied unless I press down on the slide right above the safety.

Is this something cheap to fix, or would it cost more than the gun is worth?

As usual, I can't be certain without seeing the "patient", but it's likely one of the following:

Dirt or crud in the slide or frame.

A worn/damaged safety.

A worn or damaged hammer release. (Most likely)
This is the small lever in a groove at the left rear of the frame, visible with the slide off.

When the safety is rotated, it presses the hammer release down, which trips the hammer. If the lever is defective, the hammer won't drop.

If the release is bad, Gun Parts MAY have one in stock.

The item is Number 37 on the diagram.

No doubt, there are other sources for one.

I removed the grip panels and found the problem.

The left arm on the cocking piece is broken. :cuss:

I'll call Centerfire Systems and see if they'll exchange the gun.
If not, I'll put it away until I can get a smith to fix it. :(

I got a call from Centerfire Systems at 8:30 this morning :what: in response to my email about the gun.

They'll be happy to exchange the pistol out for another one.
I didn't expect to log a disposition in my C&R book so soon, but I can't complain. :D

That's wild.
I've only seen one other PP series broken cocking piece, and that was a clear case of owner abuse.

Probably a case of a rare factory defect, or some German cop was doing things with his pistol he wasn't supposed to be doing.

I am sure everyone knows, but just in case --

Manurhin parts are the same as Walther parts. (Most parts places list Walther but not all list Manurhin.)
