Does anyone here have a Troy PAR? When did you get it? Does it have the fluted chamber? What length barrel does it have? Is it a .223/5.56mm Caliber?
I have one, got it in 2014 and it has a fluted chamber, don't like the fluted chamber. Talked to Troy and they said the barrel can be changed but you have to use a barrel without a gas block or plug the gas hole.
Would it be beneficial to plug the gas block because the PAR is a pump action?
Where would I get a 20" barrel at?
Thanks for any information you can supply, 74man

What’s wrong with the fluted chamber? The flutes are there to ease extraction.

A new barrel would need the gas port closed or deleted. Otherwise, you’ll have gas jetting out of the port. I still recall one character who assemble an AR without a gas block and wondered why the action wouldn’t cycle and the handguard kept blowing off with each shot!

One way to plug the gas port is to install a low profile gas block in reverse. I did that for a barrel I used as a dedicated 22LR upper.

I bought one a few years back (2017) so I could legally have a box-magazine loading rifle with both a folding stock and pistol grip in a ban state. Shoots pretty good, fits into a mandolin case.

I've read that some PARs have fluted chambers, but mine doesn't. Extraction seems pretty smooth without fluting. Not that big a deal for me either way, since I haven't been reloading 5.56/223.

There are AR-15 barrels available with the gas port uncut, though finding a specific length may take some online hunting:

If I didn't already own a Remington 7615P, I probably would have bought one of these like yours. My local, large pawn shop has a new one for $975. non folding stock model. first time I held one. I could sell my 7615 on GB for enough to buy the folding stock version, but I just have this passion for the 7615P.

That Remington seems to be a particular favorite on the Australian practical scene ever since civilian semi-autos were banned.
