I have used tru oil before on laminated stocks and was happy with the results, but does anyone know if I can use it over a existing factory finish on a remington 870? I am kinda worried it won't mix with the factory finish and it will take it off. Anyone ever used it over a existing factory finish?

It will work ok it will not pull the original finish. I suggest you fine steel wool the stock before use.

I've used Tru-Oil many times on factory finishes. It is a very good procuct but as Gezzer points out steel wool the wood first.

It does work fine. One guy who seems to know says that tru-oil is actually thin varnish. Whatever, it seems to stick to just about anything and look good while its doing it.

Ended up taking steel wool lightly to the factory finish, I am on my 4th coat and plan on doing a couple more in the morning. I must say this express stock is looking better now than any wood stock I have, and that even includes my precious remington 700 CDl. Tru oil is great when applied in thin coats and buffing in between with steel wool.
