New to the forum. It was suggested by one of the salty dogs (a fishing web site) that I give you guys a try for information. I have been shooting black powder since I built my own .54 Cal Thompson with a friend who goes by the name Chicken Hawk. Really enjoy black powder, especially the .54.
Anyway down to business. My Grandfather gave this weapon to me in the 70 and he has had it since the early 60's. It has German writing that is to pitted to read on the left side which is the smooth bore side. It is similar to Schmullen but it is not totally legibel. The top of the weapon has the number 4710 engraved. The rib between the two barrells is decorated with inlaid silver. The barrels G&WP 4710 on the smooth bore and G&WP 1854 on the rifled octagon barrel. The trigger guard, but cap, ram rod holder have intricate carvings of a simple design. The smooth bore measures just over 1/2" inside diameter and the rifled barrel is just under 3/4". The wood is a high quality. I do not believe it is a replica however I dont haveinformation as to the guns history. Thus I was asking for any ideas. I have emailed some internet sites. Not knowing your rules will not mention the names until I hear it is okay. And I will try to post some pictures. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated. Photos can be viewed at ifish.net under gallery laguna 29. As I have not figured out how to post a picture here. Will try and figure it out and post them. Thanks
