I've hunted that area. there are deer there, but not a lot due to the heavy amount of snowfall there every year. The area is hunted hard by the locals and gets a fair amount of hikers. the area is pretty accessible in sept before the snow hits with a lot of roads and trails, so you have some road hunters to contend with. I'd recommend getting as far from the roads as you can, some areas around the river are pretty steep so may be a place to look and set up camp to avoid other hunters and hikers. I always accessed it off 177 after taking the exit off 81.
it's mostly pine forest, so find the oak stands for the best chance at deer.
hope this helps, good luck.
