I have the most inexpensive tumbler I could find - the Frankfort Arsenal one. It looks to be "average size" as far as they go. I use the fine walnut media from HF with a little car polish. I have a small kitchen funnel inverted over the threaded rod in the middle which seems to keep the brass from contacting the rod and it looks like it speeds up the movement a little.
1. How much brass can I (should I) put in at once. My batch sizes for .223 are 300-350 pieces. All that will fit, but it's pretty full & everything moves slower, but it does move. Does that mean it's ok to put that much in at once - just for longer - or should I split that in halves?
2. For the dryer sheet to collect dust.... assuming a used one without the fabric softener stuff is preferred? Do I put the whole sheet in or tear it in pieces (or does it matter)? Do you then throw away the dryer sheet or just keep putting the same one back in - do i use a new one every time?
3. After coming out of the media separator (the Cablea's one but they seem pretty much the same by looking), I still have a few grains of walnut shell here & there. Do I need to spin that thing a little more aggressively? Not tons, but enough if I tumble & then FL size, I get sticky lubed walnut grains & figure that's probably not something I want inside the die.
4. My case trimmer leaves a clean cut. I still run a chamfer tool inside the mouth. Is tumbling as a final step an acceptable substitute for using a deburr tool for the outside?
