Walnut and corn cob can't do that.
I disagree, but you are entitled to your opinion

I'd honestly appreciate if you could share it with us.
I usually use about an ounce of 20% nufinish, 80% mineral spirits that I have premixed ready to roll in each pot of dirty brass.
Corn cob media with a little brasso mixed in shines my brass like new . Picked it up at cabelas
Well, I have many times- as many others have done as well, but sure, I'll spew it again !
Well, you do have to use mineral spirits In the media I suppose- so I guess you win.

Does that make it not dry tumbling ? Dunno.
One of the nice benefits to using nufinish on all of your brass all of the time is that most of the "crud" comes right off. Inside and out.
The little tiny bits that get left over in the pockets get uniformed out in the rest of the process.
I have an ultrasonic too.
If you really need em squeaky clean, super fast, and you don't mind the water and inevitable drying cycle- it works, too. Its also great on brass like that stuff in the box you have above for the first go round of removing the hard stuff.
Unless you are bordering on commercial levels of brass processing, or just really like high end kit- I really don't get the pin thing. I just don't. 95% clean is more than good enough for me. HEck, 60% is, but we need perfect surgical brass, every single firing, right ?
But hey- to each their own.
I'm not going to roll over and over as to why I think its unnecessary again.....this week...... but fear not, someone will be along shortly to type it out for us again.
And I just like that feeling.
Right, took some Googleing but it's now clear. It's called "aguarrás mineral" in continental Spanish. "Aguarrás" is Spanish for turpentine, which is the one that comes from trees (pines, IIRC), and "aguarrás mineral" is the petroleum distillate. Thanks .
Brasso contains ammonia and will make your brass brittle. Use something like Nu Finish car wax instead. No amonia, and shines just as good. One capful added to your corn cob media will last 5-6 tumblings.
