Turned Down on the S&W Forum

Last week I thought I would join the S&W forum. I am a member of several forums, ranging from cars to research to guns. I was declined, the response I got via e-mail was somewhat degrading. I was chastized for my user name of "schmeky". It was indicated such a name was inappropriate and would never be allowed on this (S&W) forum.

I was kinda' shocked. So if you decide to join, look carefully at your intended user name.

So I Googled "schmeky" and came up with only 9 hits, all of them (apparently) pointing to your username. Tried the Google alternate spelling suggestion of "schmecky" and got this:

I suspect that may be what is bothering the admins at S&W forums.

Umm... yeah, there are a lot of places (here included) where schmeckle and variants would be considered inappropriate by anyone who knew what it meant.

That is totally being nitpicky!

There are probably hundreds of words for a mans privates, and i bet most are as obscure as Schmecky. Who the hell knew that?

Are they gonna ban any word someone puts up on UrbanLegands???

What if that was your last name? Seems like Schmeky could very well be a last name. Some mods are so retarded.

The origin of the word is the Yiddish word for penis.........schmeckel or schmekel.

BTW, don't change it to schvanzy either.

Check out Schmuck, or Schmucatelli. This was once a widely used, mildly derogatory in the US military.

The PC crowd got their way, and these days, it is a major no-no. That is as of about ten years ago.

There are others. It just gets better and better, guys.

The folks at The S&W Forum have a right to refuse membership to anyone based on their user name. At THR we do the same.

That being said, The S&W Forum is a valuable resource. If you are interested in S&W revolvers, I would advise selecting another name and trying to fit in.

Schmeky, in light of your recent relevation, if you would like your name to be changed here, it can be arranged.

We don't do forum battles here though, so I'm closing this thread. PM me if you like.
