Turret press question

I used to decap my brass and wet tumble with SS pins to clean the primer pockets. No more! It is too much work. It basically DOUBLES the workload since it takes almost the same amount of time to decap as it does to load. I really don't notice any difference in performance between clean vs. dirty primer pockets.

Here is a (somewhat blurry) video that I made a while ago showing how I decap on the LCT press. Pretty amateur video skills...

Yeah, that will make it take a lot longer.

You can have machines do it for you though.

Than all you have to do is keep them from running empty.

Yeah, I totally want that!

I did try decapping on my XL650 with a case feeder (still manual), but it made the press filthy. I considered tumbling before decapping, but now the process is taking way too long.

I want a machine where I can dump my dirty, mixed brass into a it on one end, press a button, and it comes out the other end sparking clean, decapped, and sorted by caliber and primer size! How cool would that be? I am willing to pay at *LEAST* $200 for such a device!!! LOL!!! ;)

Get on it @jmorris!!! I expect a working prototype by the end of the week!!! :neener:

I don't own a hair dryer, and forget putting them "out in the sun" in Wisconsin. The 30 or so days a year when the sun is shining and it's NOT 20 below, well I'm not going to wait for a day like today, hot, sunny with high humidity. The humidity would make it a slow process, and if I forgot them out there, it's forecast to rain later this afternoon.
Wisconsin? Try freeze drying them! :)

Actually, the properties of water is it can change from solid ice to vapor without going through the liquid state. IE freeze drying. It helps to apply a vacuum, speeds up the process.

In a positive note, IIRC Hornady sells a case dryer that is simply a Dehydrator. Like for making jerky or drying veggies. I have a Nesco Dehydrator, I may try my USC again for some target ammo.

Yep. Sublimation. That is one way to remove ice from a wing, climb above the clouds into dryer air.

I sometimes use a dehydrator. If I am not in a hurry, I just use a fan.
