On August 28, activists in cities across America will hold a national day of protest to
focus attention on the scourge of illegal gun trafficking. August 28th is the anniversary of
Martin Luther King's historic March on Washington in 1963.
The Brady Campaign and its network of Million Mom March Chapters is supporting the
efforts of Reverend Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition to draw attention to gun
violence by organizing local events to be held in cities across America.
“August 28, 1963, was a watershed moment in American history, and one that will be
forever linked to social change and social justice” said Brady Campaign President Paul
Helmke. “We can’t achieve Dr. King’s “dream” of what America can be when we lose
32 people every day to gun murders. Dr. King’s focus on civil rights and non-violence
should lead us now to ask each other and our leaders, ‘What are you going to do about
gun violence?’”
Please join us on Tuesday, August 28th on the steps of the Duluth City Hall at noon.Mayor Bergson will speak about the Mayors' gun summit, gun violence, and illegal
guns followed by a representative of the Northland Chapter who will lead those in
attendance in a bell ringing in memory of the 32 people murdered every day in our
country by guns. There will be a representative from the Police Chief’s office there
as well.
Minnesota and Duluth are not immune from these homicides and we know that
GUN DEATHS AND INJURIES ARE PREVENTABLE.

Minnesota gun owners unite!

Don't know if I could make it to Duluth, but I've been thinking about going to the Minneapolis location to see what's up... while open carrying. And Bill's Gun Shop is less than 10 minutes drive from there.

Anybody have anything planned? Naturally, I'd feel more comfortable if I could hook up with a group to counter-protest.

And coyote, you gonna fly in from RI for the event? :p
