HOUSTON, DOZENS OF OTHER CITIES OBSERVE NATIONAL DAY OF PROTEST
AGAINST ILLEGAL GUNS
Protests Across America On The Anniversary Of Dr. King’s March On Washington
Houston, TX – In partnership with Reverend Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition, the Brady
Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and its Million Mom March Chapters is organizing a national day of protest
against gun violence. More than 20 cities across America will hold simultaneous protests on August 28. In
Houston, the protest will be a “freeway blog” on the Montrose Bridge.
Signs will be displayed for traffic on the Montrose Bridge. The freeway blog will feature a message
against the easy availability of illegal guns in America.
Nationwide, there will be candlelight vigils, memorial bell-ringing ceremonies, marches, rallies, press
conferences, and “lie-ins.” Reverend Jackson called for these protests to take place on August 28 – the
anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s historic March on Washington – to demand action against the gun
violence plaguing our cities.
WHAT: National day of protest against gun violence
WHEN: Tuesday, August 28, 5:00pm
WHERE: Montrose Bridge, Houston.
I tell you what, if we get outnumbered in TX we don't have a prayer.
