A guy at work I have known for quite a while and needed to raise some cash. Among the few guns he had, was 2 M&P Shields. One in 9mm and the other in 40. He bought both new and never shot the 9 and very few in the 40. I threw out a price for both and we agreed upon a sum.
I can sell either one for a small profit. I'm toying with the idea of selling the 9 and maybe keeping the 40. I see there are 40-9 conversion barrels on the market.
9s seem to sell easier than the 40, at least around here.

Has anyone tried a 40-9 conversion with the Shield? Did it work out okay.

I'm not a big fan of the 40, but I seem to keep some around.

What I didn't get was all the old articles talked about how thin the Shield was, but my LC9, with the same barrel length, is smaller in every way. I haven't shot it yet, but dry firing, the trigger seems to be a put off. Yes, shorter pull than the LC9, but a with heavy break.
I guess I will get a better feel about it when I can make it to the range.

Here is a comparing picture between the LC9 and Shield. And a picture of both the 9 and 40 Shield.

I love my 9 shield. Its my second one. The first one I sold like a dummy and bought a Glock 43 (without having fired one before) and realized the 43 wasn't that great of a gun for me (and I use Glock 19, 17, 23, 21, and 34 for just about everything I use a handgun for). Next deal I found on a shield 9, I grabbed it. That 40 is going to be a bit of a handful compared to the 9. If you don't mind the brisk, snappy recoil, go with your plan. I would sell the 40 and keep the 9.

Congrats and I agree with your observations between the Shield and LC9S.

Those were the main two I was looking at a few years ago for EDC and I ended up with the Ruger. More concealable and much better trigger.

That being said I'd keep and the 9 and sell the 40. Or sell both if you can make a decent profit.

You're both probably right. Both Shields are tighter on the slide/rail fit than the full size M&P40 I have. I just don't like the idea that to get the trigger feeling right, I would have to sink +$90 in one for the Apex kit.
Hoping that next week the weather turns better for my wife and I to get out and test them. She wants to shoot the 40. I'll warn her about the snappiness to it.

I had a Kahr CW40 and while controllable, recoil and muzzle flip were quite noticeable. I eventually sold it and went with a Kahr CM9; much more comfortable to shoot. I would keep the 9mm. and sell the .40.

I too don't get the appeal of the Shield. A bit big for what it is and I dislike the hinged triggers on M&Ps. I think many get steered to them by LGS's for some reason and then unload them based on they're a dime a dozen on used sites like Armslist. Much prefer my LC9S.
