Alas, found myself with some more Wonder 9's after swearing I would never get another 9 or 40 again!

Went to the range with the mail ordered Wahlter 99cAS, and found the trigger much coarser than one I had handled previously. This is for another topic.

Winchester range 115 grn fmj performed well enough so I conceal carry the 99. The Winchester 147 grn jhp was all over the place with this gun! I plan to get some 124 grn jhp's for it as a result.

Could it be the twist rate is too little to spin the heavies? Where can I find the twist rates of the common Sigs, Hks, Glocks, etc.? I am thinking it might make me rethink heavy for caliber in 9mm, although my Sigs seem to do well with anything. And yes, I know the penetration argument for heavies, and most all I have is heavy. I just wanted a light to carry, many round count goodie.

Thanks for your experiences and thoughts.

Its not going to be brand specific, but rather caliber specific. The amount of rifling is a function of projectile weight, muzzle velocity, and projectile size.

It probably says in the manual, but I really only see them listed in review in my "American Rifleman" magazine.

The twist for 9x19 is usually close to 1:10.
For P99 it is 1:10 for 9x19 and 1:16 for .40 S&W. Both are six-groove right hand twist.
