Two deer down
On the 14th I hit the woods at daybreak with my savage weather warrior in .270 WSM. I didn't see a thing till 12:00. When a button buck came to sniff the trails end 307 in the scent bomb I hung 40 yards in front of my stand. I put the reticle on the lungs and sent a 140 accubond on its way. The deer traveled about 30 yards. I put my mountain cur on the bloodtrail to get her some experience.
The accubond hit a rib upon entering and left a 2in exit.
On the 15th I hit the woods at about 7:00 same stand and same gun. The wind was blowing hard and nothing was moving, I was considering calling it a day and decided to use the grunt call one more time then I saw antlers in the brush.
The deer looked like a 10 point. I managed to find a shooting lane and hit the buck behind the shoulder at about 50 yards. He went on a short death run for about 30 yards. The deer turned out to be an 8 point as it had no brow tines. The stand was about 50 yards deep in the woods near a field corner.
