I have a 620 which has the two piece barrel. It shoots just as well as my older S&W's with the one piece barrels, and has been trouble free over all.
If it has a fault, its finding loaded rounds on the ground when I pick up my brass. Ive had it for years now, and if I dont force myself to pay attention, I still dump the empties on 6. I guess all those years with 6 shooters is ingrained in my subconscious.
While Im not opposed to tinkering, and have done so more than I probably should have, I have never felt the need to remove a barrel from one of my Smiths. If I was contemplating that, its going back to S&W, one piece or two.
