Why so few revolvers with interchangeable barrels?

I have 3 different barrel lengths for 3 different 1851s (3 full guns), and one of them is sporting a conversion cylinder on it so I can swap the barrels to it as desired in about 30 seconds.

I think the cost is a factor as if you are going to buy say a $500 revolver, then add 3 barrels that now becomes a $1500 revolver, while for some this is no big deal, for others it is. So, while price might be less than buying 4 revolvers, volume of sales would be likely less as well and profit margin would be less, etc.

I am sure if they thought they could make more money doing this, the gun manufacturers would do so. I do remember seeing one on Forgotten Weapons that had 4 barrels and 4 magazines, but, don't recall what it was. but it would be cool to be able to put your 3" or 2 1/4" or 4" (or longer) barrel on an SP101 so you could carry IWB, OWB, in the Field, etc.
