i shot two small prong horn(good eateing) with a 7mm08 with 120gr bullets at 3000fps with a healthy charge of varget out of a rem sps left hand rifle with a 2.5x8 leupold BC, the first shot was at the prong horn standing at 310 yards, off of a harris bipod prone. i aimed right behind the front shoulder for a double lung shot, at the crack of the rifle the prong horn dropped like a rock, the second shot was at 280 yards with the prong horn standing, off of a harris bipod sitting for the same shot as the first goat. at the crack of the rifle the prong horn wheeled in a small circle and fell over. both shots were complete pass threws with a exit hole 1-3/4 to 2 inches wide and the lungs were destroyed. i have killed quite a few white tails with the same load with the same results. eastbank.

Very nice, 310 yards is a pretty fair poke on an antelope! Glad to hear they didn't run on you, should make for good eating.

Nice shooting! Congratulations! I love those little balistic tips, i run them in my 7-30waters to good effect.

i should have posted that the rifle was sighted in for 200 yards and the drop at 300 yards was close to eight inches and dialed in 10 clicks(1/4 at 100 yards and 3/4 at 300 yards) and held right on. eastbank.

Your bolt is on the wrong side of the rifle...how did you make those shots with such crazy equipment...Remington 700? My niece is a switch hitter, does most things righty but shoots and throws a ball lefty. I want to start getting top or bottom eject guns so anybody can use them, but a nice lefty rifle would be good if I could find a screaming deal. Today's her birthday, I need to try gunbroker. She's turning 12 today and uncle Marc feels old. I now wish I hadn't traded off a Rossi break action for a store-brand 243 bolt rifle a few years ago.

Wish I could chase speed goats. There aren't many in the east.

Nice shooting. Know killed my first pronghorn this year with a 180g accubond in 30-06 at 120y. Overkill, but lost no meat to speak of thanks to the bonded bullet.

I shot a couple of Bambis with a 7mm TCU Contender pistol. The 120 BT made a mess of one. It was about 30 yards quartering to me. I took it on the shoulder and it exited the opposite flank. Nasty! I swore off anything but a broadside shot and then tried to keep it off of the shoulder. Worked fine on the second deer.

Not a big fan of the BT. I hit a yearling whitetail on the shoulder with a 90gr out of a 243 and blew the side out of it. I should have known better after blowing the guts out of a coyote and a armadillo. I saw chunks of dillo the size of a tennis ball go 20 ft into the air.

i agree, if i don,t have a broadside shot, i wait for one and shoot for a double lung hit. i have shot enough deer(over 200) and if a few get away its ok by me. if you are taking quartering or rear angle shots a heavier jacketed bullet may be in order. eastbank.

we got it out of the hide and cut it into pieces and on ice with in two hours in a good cooler and kept it iced down ontill we got home, i cooked some in a crock pot(after i maranated it for a hour) and it was very good(the ones i shot were 3-4 year olds). cooked long and at a low heat seemed to do it. eastbank.

Have someone make you some summer sausage. They won't have to add any sage.
The best game meat I've ever had (and I've had a lot) were two pronghorns we got a few years ago. Neither were chased or harassed. One shot was at 300 yards and the other at 440. I don't get where people thing pronghorn is gamey or tough. And no sage taste either.
