I am going to go a gun show tomorrow and try to find a used SIG 1911-22 or GSG 1911-22, I have two questions,
1) Do I need use bore light to check the inside of the barrel? If the barrel is dirty, can I ask the boss to clean it or for permission to clean it by myself? I did two times when I bought other pistol, but I felt I may couldn’t find the inside barrel line’ s problem even It has and I saw only very few people to do that way.
2) How about the grip safety? Should I just squeeze it when I fire? This is my first time to try a pistol with grip safety.

Thanks!

If you want to look inside the barrel I'd bring a bore light.

There's no trick to a grip safety. Just grip the gun like you would any other pistol.

The grip safety on both weapons may or may not disengage easily when the pistol is held/griped. Some are a little harder to disengage than others; not a deal breaker but if you are familiar with other 1911s it may take a little getting use to.. Not usually a problem with common caliber 1911s but have noticed with the GSGs I have handled they are a little stiffer to disengage; said a different way??. If there is more than one weapon you can hold, try them out not all are created equally.....on the other hand the Sig and the GSG are the same weapon with different roll marks and prices. I would rack the slide several times and see how smooth the slide is and free of dragging/catches comparing different weapons if available. Take your time and I think you will enjoy whichever one you choose.

Can I test grip safety but don't shoot the gun ? or I only can test when I shoot it?

2wheels, Thanks! I will use the bore light if I want to look the barrel.

GSG 1911s (which includes the SIG because it IS a GSG) have a mag drop safety. You will have to insert the mag to try the grip safety. I also suggest to NOT dry fire any rimfire and to test the grip safety with a snap cap in it or by holding the hammer with the other hand so it doesn't fully contact the firing pin. I am going to disconnect my grip safety on my GSG because so many NON 1911 people have a problem shooting this gun because they have a very hard to engage grip safety on them. In fact, some 1911 guys even have a problem if they don't have a gorilla grip like I do. BTW my ambi safety broke on mine, so I am shooting it as a right hand safety until I get a new higher quality ambi for it.

Yes when the mag for the weapon is installed but the weapon does not have a round chambered (pistol has a stupid IMO mag safety) you can dry fire (snap cap in chamber is preferred) the weapon a few times w/o damage hopefully??...many say not a good idea to dry fire a rimfire but I have a few times without something breaking??

If it is natural for the hammer to fall without having to press the palm/web of your hand dramatically on the grip safety you should be good to go; should be natural without having to think about it.

Again I am particular about my 1911s (maybe overly so?) but I figure you will be able to tell if there is any difference between the weapons you are looking at.

1) I am going to ask the boss if I can dry fire the gun with snap cap, if he allow, I should be OK. I never use by holding the hammer with the other hand.
2) What is mag drop safety? I saw an article said how to deactivete the mag safety. Do you mean to disconnect the mag safety instead of grip safety?
3) How about Sig sauer 1911-22 and Kimber .22 1911. Do they also have mag safety and same kind of grip safety problem?

Mag safety just means the gun will not shoot unless the mag is inserted and several manufactures are incorporating this feature...Some people do not mind that and some do. If there is no snap cap then just grip the pistol and pull the trigger while catching the hammer with you other finger or hand.

It's a .22 and they're only a couple of years old max, not much chance of having bore issues. It'll only a bazillion rounds to shoot one out and the condition of the rest of the gun will give a good indication of how well it's been cared for.

That said, it never hurts to bring a bore light to a show, especially if your looking at older stuff.

Hi!
I bought a new Sig sauer 1911-22 yesterday on the gun show. $355.00,
I shot it on the range this morning almost no issue.
I like it so much.

Thanks!

Hahahahaha gotta love a happy ending!!! Good luck and may the enjoyment be ever lasting!

Can someone just tell me what exactly the magazine safety can do? Can't the gun fire when the magazine is out? but even the gun doesn't has this safety, I remember other pistols can't fire as well when the magazine is out. I saw someone wants to deactivate it . Can it make trouble to this gun?.

No trouble go to youtube and maybe some vid will show you. If your pistol is used it may have been disabled already.....most hate that function.
