Two teenage boys were charged with the attempted murder of two Gretna, Louisiana police officers after allegedly ramming police cruisers with a stolen car and hitting one officer.

Gretna police had tried to pull over a car being driven by a 15-year-old boy early Christmas Eve morning when the driver sped off.

When the officers tried to stop the car, the driver hit two police cruisers and a police officer.

Two officers fired into the car, hitting the driver in the left side. He was taken to Charity Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

The officer who was hit by the car was taken to West Jefferson Hospital and was listed in good condition.

Investigators said they later discovered the car had been stolen, though its owner had not yet realized it was missing.

When the 15-year-old is released from the hospital he will be booked, along with his 13-year-old passenger, with attempted murder of police officers, New Orleans police said.
