Dealer said that the family he got the Model 97 from did not know the owner had it.
Perhaps the owner passed away and the family found it when breaking up the house.
It was definately carried/handled quite a bit, but not dragged around trees and over rocks.

I would like to see what the old walnut stock would look like refinished, but I won't mess with this puppy.

And yes, the Model 97 is much sexier than the Model 12

As usual, great pic.
Taking the pictures outdoors with a natural backdrop really helps.
I also take several shots at different angles and only post the best pics.

They're fine guns, but need more exercise

Yes indeed (the Model 12 caused a lot of smiles and good natured ribbing at the trap range)
That's why I get semi-collectable guns that will not go way down in value if they get shot.
I would not know what to do with a "minty" gun.

Don't worry about refinishing the furniture on the old cornshucker. Just give it a good hand rubbed treatment with Johnson's paste wax, And yes, that means rub it in with the palm of your hand a bit at a time using enough pressure to cause a little heat from friction as you work it in. It does well on blued steel also, but using a soft cloth to apply it works better there.

If you can't find Johnson's anywhere, Amazon has it - http://www.amazon.com/Fine-Wood-Paste-Wax-1lb/dp/B0000DIWIM .

It's good to see one in as good a shape as that one. I got a chance to pick up one of the Nork copies a while back and settled for that one, but if I ever find a real one that's a good deal, I doubt I'll be able to resist.
