Hey Texans - TX HB 992 passed out of committee and was 'considered' by the Calendars committee - but not scheduled for a vote. (The Calendars committee is where bills can be killed - all they have to do is just never schedule them for floor debate.)
HB 992 is the NRA- and TSRA-backed bill that prevents employers from disallowing CHL holders from having a handgun in their car while in the company parking lot.
HB 1815 (passed out of Law Enforcement committee and sent to Calendars, but not yet considered by Calendars) strenthens the law from the last regular session which basically allowed all drivers to have a handgun in their car as long as certain conditions were met - not engaged in criminal activity, not prohibited from possessing a firearm, not a member of a criminal street gang as legislatively defined.
I spoke to the clerk of Rep Rose (who introduced HB 992), she agreed it would help if Texans would communicate to the Calendars committee our desires regarding HB 992. The members can be found here "http://www.house.state.tx.us/committees/050.htm" , it's easy to send an email. Following up with a letter is best, in my opinion, phone calls can't hurt.
Sample email below, feel free to plagiarize, edit as you see fit, or disregard.
Time is of the essence, the legislative session is short and if bills don't get passed by one chamber or the other by about 15 May, I believe they are dead, dead, DEAD for this session.

Subject: "Schedule debate / votes on HBs992 & 1815 ASAP

Please use your influence on the House Calendars Committee to see that House Bills 992, requiring employers in Texas to respect Texas laws and the individual rights of their concealed-handgun-licensed employees, and HB 1815, which clarifies legislation passed in the last regular session and has been ignored by a few big-city District Attorneys, are debated as soon as possible. Both of these bills represent critical legislation in terms of their impact on the ability of law-abiding Texans (remember, these bills will have no effect AT ALL on citizens who choose not to obey laws) to have the means to defend themselves on their commute to and from work and at other times.

Thank you for your consideration."
