Gov Perry signed the parking lot bill 06/17/11. Becomes law 09/01/11. There are a few exceptions ( as always ), but it's a step forward.

Aweome! This will directly apply to me and my employer. IIRC, this bill has been introduced the last couple of years and never made it through. Glad to hear it finally has.

Under section E it talks about Oil and gas leases. Is this saying I cant have a firearm in my vehicle when out on a oil field lease if it is posted no firearms and if it's not posted I'm good to go? I spend a lot of late nights alone working in the Oil field from 8pm to 5am and i have often wondered.

Dazen - based on the text, it doesn't seem so. It looks like you are prohibited from carrying a gun on property under an oil and gas lease if the terms of the lease prohibit firearms on the property.

I've seen my fair share of oil and gas leases (i.e. it's kinda what I do for a living) and I can't recall ever seeing a lease with that provision. You can always pull up the leases in the county courthouse if you are curious.

We have a gas well about a mile from the House and it has got non- legal gun sign.
