ATLANTA - Hundreds of law officials extended their massive search for a man suspected in a courthouse triple slaying as officials on Saturday tried to determine whether the fatal shooting of a U.S. customs agent was related.

The agent was found dead Saturday, and officials said his blue 1994 Chevrolet pickup, pistol and badge were stolen.

The shooting occurred in the same general area where courthouse rampage suspect Brian Nichols used to live.

"We don't know if this is the same suspect," Fulton County Police deputy Chief G.D. Miles said. "Whoever is driving this pickup truck is a cop killer."

Nichols, 33, was suspected of killing a judge and two other people at a downtown courthouse Friday, then stealing a reporter's car to escape. But Nichols apparently never took the reporter's green Honda Accord from the parking garage where he carjacked it and attempted more hijackings afterward, police said.

Weasel, you need a little practice with copy and paste. You didn't provide a link and all your insets didn't show, such as the pics, links, etc.

The dead agent may or may not be related. Given the location of the courthouse and other government agencies, I would not be surprised by an LEO being killed in the area. That is where all their offices seem to be concentrated. Right now, the only correlation is that they both happened in the same area.

CNN just reported that the GBI Director has been notified about this latest slaying, CNN talked to him by phone and asked him if it was related.

He stated that he did not know for certain but that his Agents would not have called him unless they had a strong suspicion of that fact.

I just C/P the text from the AP News wire I got the links by accident.

What do you think it will cost our "system" to put this guy down? He shot and killed people in a public place, a courthouse no less. Still, there will have to be a trial, appeals, of course the expense of housing and feeding him for months, probably years, on death row.

What happened to the good old days? A few years ago he would already be hanging from a tree in front of the courthouse. Done deal for the cost of a decent rope.

It will cost millions. remember, even once he gets convicted, and gets past the appeals phase, he'll be on deathrow for decades. You're right, in the good old days, if he made it out of the courthouse, citizens would have put him down pretty quick.

I agree whole heartedly. I am all for due process and innocent until proven guilty and the system as it was written etc. but when you have twenty witnesses, a video tape, a smoking gun, and four bodies then as far as I am concerned that case is cut and dry. Hang em' and reuse the rope or throw a toaster in the bath with them.

This guy is nothing but a rabid animal and rabid animals need to be put down end of story.

I do believe people make mistakes and should be given other chances but once you commit murder/rape etc. you have crossed a line and you need to be put down or expelled from our society.

I'm glad they caught this guy. From his actions, he's naught more than a rabid dog who needs to be removed from the gene pool.

Yep, I vote for expulsion. On the moon would be my choice. Let him live out his days repaying his debt to society by working to expand that society's sphere of influence.

I also agree that our legal system has become a farce in some cases.

It's one thing for the state to prove "beyond a reasonable doubt" in cases where there may be some question as to the evidence, but then there's cases of "absolutely zero doubt" from the gitgo. Also cases where there's absolutly zero basis for an appeal.

Some court appointed atty is gonna waste months of society's time and hundreds of thousands of taxpayer's dollars in fees trying to come up with some excuse for why he did it. He's gonna try and get all evidence suppressed and play games with jury selection since all of the media coverage means this turd can't get a "fair" trial. He'll also claim on appeal that the judicial system is totally biased against him since he killed a judge and other court officers.

There are some cases which call for a summary trial and immediate execution, and this one is the model. But, hey! He's got his rights, 'ya know!

I'm sure the ACLU is ready to weigh-in anytime now.

So, in certain circumstances the Constitution may be disregarded? Or, does it always apply? Apply only to certain people? Apply only when the majority feel it should apply?

And how exactly is the right to a jury trial, confrontation, counsel, due process, etc., less important than the right to keep and bear arms?

What do you want to prove in a trial? How much money do you think we should spend to put this guy down? Let's talk about right and wrong for a minute. Because this guy surrendered and wasn't shot to death how much more should he cost society? Not just money but the drain? What do we have to keep giving to this guy? I say he deserves the same due process he afforded to the judge, bailiff, etc.

We have enough people around without hanging on to this guy any longer. It is time to thin the herd.

Now, ask yourself, why did the guy surrender when pretty much everyone thought there would have to be a shootout? My theories are that now in prison he will be a hero, and he escaped once, I suppose he thinks maybe he can do it again. News services are already reporting that there is a good chance that this guy's actions will inspire other criminals. Why shouldn't it? You shoot people, get out and get to run around for a day or so, then when you do get caught (or more like IF you get caught in their minds) they will treat you with kid gloves and when you get back to prison you are a hero to your peer group.

If this guy was swinging from a tree 30 min after he was caught what kind of deterrent would that be? He is a rapist and a murderer, caught on tape. Now you want a multi-million dollar trial so some lawyer can try to make a name for himself? Maybe he can get the guy life in prison, costing us millions more. I have your due process, here is a video of this guy shooting people and here is a rope. The prosecution rests.

Oh, I'm all for following all the laws, the constitution, having a trial, appeals, conviction and execution and all that legal stuff. Only thing is, in this case, it ought to take about 30 minutes, not 30 years!

Well I’m seriously prejudiced in this case, he killed a brother LEO ICE Agent, one of my brother Deputies, seriously wounded another and killed a Superior Court Judge and shot dead a civilian lady court reporter who had no dog in anybodies fight.

He cost the taxpayers of Georgia untold amounts of money and resources which we had to spend to find his @$$ and now we will have to suffer yet another trial to prove his guilt, if that is/was ever in question.

I’m from the old school of Law Enforcement where I think it’s fair for you to run from the law, I can actually respect you (a criminal) for it, you are by your actions only trying to get away and not harm anyone.

On the other side of the coin are those who choose to stay and fight it out or just fight it out with the law, I have no compassion for you regardless of whatever crime you are accused of and I have had more than one suspect at gunpoint because of this.

Run from a cop and the game is on but when we catch you the game is up, it’s time to go peacefully you had your fun and we won.

Stand that ground and make a conscious choice to do harm to any officer of the law and you run the risk of meeting your maker.

Animals like Nicholas needs to be forcefully removed from the gene pool and an example made to all who would look up to him, all the street hoods and self proclaimed gangsters we have to deal with nowadays. Put him down fast and as violently as he put his victims down.

Do this often to all who dare to cross that line and the evils of society will begin to understand either thru force or evolution as one posters already said, it’s time to thin the heard of those who make a conscious choice to no longer respect peace loving peoples regardless if the way a uniform or not.

He raped a woman, killed another civilian then moved to kill again, three more times.

He should have never been allowed to walk out of that apartment alive.

:fire:

Unluckiest guy in Atlanta or????

The perp evidently took a train from the courthouse area and then went to the ICE agent's house. Was this just sheer chance? Or did nichols have a beef against him? Strange if there was no connection.
