U.S. Made Remmies?

Yup!

PITA issue, gotta have a seperate company ta supply tha cartridge cylinders ta satisfy legalities.

Might be anywhere from 4 1/2 inch ta 6 inch depending on how it balances out for proportions. Whichever LOOKS best.

I'd like to see some faithful to the originals, american made colts. That is if the steel we make is still worth a darn. Paterson thru 72 Opentop. Pocket pistols to carbines.

We ought to be able to make them well enough to take magnum loads for a spell. Properly sleeved barrels, better forcing cones, upgraded innards. Maybe improved inward, but not noticable outwardly.

Did you know that Val Forgett III is still around?

Yup, tha 'smith has dealt with Val. Krauts made some improvements in tha design from Colt sos ya gets consistant and PRECISION adjustment for wear etc.

BUT, design is yet inconsistant with MAGNUM loadings, when he does tha .58 caliber conversions on Walkers&Dragoons, he converts um ta SOLID frame.

Tha loading for tha .58 gives ya a 440 grain bullet at 1200fps. Its like havin five rounds of shotgun slug loads on yer hip!

Might be better to keep the flat spring if you want to compete with it. Gain twist like the originals or straight twist? Be nice to have that show up a few other countries on the international scene. If its got the things that make it tick right I'd be proud to smoke with one!

All Twisted And No Gain!

Problem bein, there aint no advantage ta GAIN TWIST but a nifty term ona sales brochure.

Not one that i know of benchrest shooter usin gain twist, these guys measure groups in THOUSANDS of tha inch, were there ANY advantage these guys'ed be ALL over it!!

Now i know we're doin some apples&oranges here, high intensity jacketed rifle shootin versus low pressure pretty dirty black powder pistol&rifle shootin, yet groups are groups.

And tha center to both is CONSISTANCY in loading technique.

I always thought the whole gain twist thing was to allow a patched ball to overcome inertia and begin to take the rifling without stripping, then speed up on down the bore. I can't see any advantage in a percussion revolver where the ball starts out (or should at any rate) larger than bore diameter.

Manyirons, if you have started a list of those to contact when these come available, put me on it. Personally, I'd like a Remington as close to original dimensions as possible but I imagine I'd take just about anything as long as it looks like the originals did.

Steve!!

Done! All i does is forward to tha 'smith. Back ta gain twist,'smith tell me is in some REAL specific circumstances advantage BUT NOT FER ACCURACY!!!

Ny example he gave me, ifin ya had a LOOOOONG .22 caliber bullet, say 130 grains or more worth, with a REAL stiff jacket on toppa a BIIIIG loada powder, and ya gotta barel twist of somethin like 1 turn in 5 rate, can ya imagine runnin that bullet inta that barrel throat???!!!

Now THAT is an invite ta strip a jacket!! Also, tryin ta get that bullet ta start spinnin?!

Not ta mention you gonna have a REAL sudden jump in pressure cause thats gonna act like a cork for a LONG (Comparatively speakin!) time!!

THATS where a twist rate of 1 in a 100 STARTIN ENDIN UP at 1 in 5 would be kinda cool!

Lets that bullet start out just real soft&gentle tha way it OUGHT to!

MAN i LIKE havin tha 'smith around!

sundance44s

I sure would like one American made .... but not a custom .. if i wanted a custom i`d buy a ruger .. will he make any like the originals ? i just cant stray from the original look and feel .. sure would like the American steel though .

Is the manufactuer working off the original dimensions of the Remington or is he working off one of the Italian repos that are actually smaller than the originals? You really need to handle an original to know their superiority in feel. If he was making one as close to an original as possible than I'd be interested.

Offa original dimensions with some changes for modern people with bigger hands!

The grip frame as an example will be straight COLT. ALL tha internal parts will be OLD MODEL RUGER, COIL SPRINGS and LITERALLY UNBREAKABLE.

Other COVERT and (A Few) OVERT modifications for reliability, function, corrosion resistance etc. (One proposed finish will be a BLUED/Blackend Stainless Steel) ya get tha LOOK of Bluing/Blacking and tha corrosion resistance of bluin.

STILL workin on tha sights!!!!

Different Grip Frames

He's givin a REAL hard look at a DETACHABLE grip frame ala COLT/Ruger with alla tha variations extant fer that model!

Including BIRDSHEAD styles fer small hands and Monster grip frames for those of us with paws.

As it is, he might do that very same thing he didi with tha WHEELLOCK. Make one utterly traditional, and another improved in every way possible for practicality!
