Well, I went and did it. Lost the tiniest part in the whole danged revolver. The little screw that holds in the tiny spring that holds in the pin that rides on the hand I think. Don't have a clue what to call it, but it fell off the desk into never never land. Have spent two and a half hours searching for it but there are far too many cracks and crevices that it could have fallen into. Guess I'll have to find another somewhere. I looked at VTI's web site but didn't find the part or the name. Anyone know what its called? Its the screw on the left of the hammer above the screws holding the grip frame on. Funny. All I was going to do was replace the flat trigger spring with a wire wolf spring and a lighter mainspring. While I had it apart I cleaned all of the insides and anywhere I saw roughness or an indication of metal rubbing metal, I polished a bit with 1000 and 1500 grit wet dry paper. Not much, just enough to say it was polished a bit. I put it all back together and when I cocked the hammer, the first notch caught normally. The second notch caught but was a bit mushy. There was no third or fourth notch, the hammer would not stay back. The cylinder would turn a good bit with the hammer down also. I knew this wasn't correct so I took it back apart to look for the problem. Never got that far, the screw holding that screw fell at that time. Any ideas where to find another? And no...I had never taken one of these things apart this far before. UPDATE: I FOUND IT!!!! Still don't know how I put the gun together wrong, but I'm gonna try her again. Can't believe I found it!

OH well, back to the drawing board...now I'm worried that I might have over polished something. I got it back together and now it will go to full cock and the hammer will fall, ever so weakly when I pull the trigger. The cylinder is rotating to the right when I cock it and then back to the left when I let the hammer down. With it cocked I can move the cylinder almost half a chamber back an forth. With the hammer down I can move the cylinder back and forth even further. I used to get 4 distinct "clicks" when I pulled the hammer back now I get a very faint sound on the first notch and the hammer is spongy, a loud distinct click on the second notch and the third click is now at full cock. Also at half cock, I cannot turn the cylinder at all as if to load. It will turn a wee bit and stop but not enough to advance to the next cylinder with that audible click.

Trying to narrow this down. The hammer comes back and the hand goes up...that is good. The hammer cocks and the trigger releases it. I guess thats good too. The hand spring and pin is in place. The trigger spring can't be on upside down cause the long leg goes on the trigger. The short leg on the other piece ( bolt?) That looks OK. Can the bolt be on backwards?

If this is working, I take it you found the tiny screw? I looked and was thinking maybe you lost the Gate Catch Screw. Maybe not. I found this diagram. Recently I recall watching a video on this too. This is a pretty good video. I think at around 7 minutes into it he takes out the screw.

Thanks Sig. On a Uberti or at least on mine, the hand doesn't have a spring. (part no. 31 in your diagram) It has a tiny pin with pressure held on it by a tiny spring, held in place by the tiny screw I lost and found.
