Uberti .36 navy

I have just bought what was advertised as a Colt 1862 pocket revolver, but Icant find it in any of Uberti`s literiture. It is a 6 shot .36 with a 5 inch barrel marked on the top flat "western". To me it looks like a navy repro but with a 5 in barrel, can anyone id it, it is in mint condition with case hardened frame and loading lever

It sounds like a Uberti version of this Pietta 'fantasy' revolver...

Thanks for the input, I had a look at the Pietta and its not like that. It has got the frame of an 1851 and the cylinder is unfluted

A six shot cylinder makes it a belt model, not a pocket model so it is NOT an 1862. The 5" barrel means it is a shortened 1861. The unfluted cylinder is also common on the 1861 although I have a pair of 1861s with full fluted cylinders.

The Pocket Police (1862) was a 5 shot revovler with a half fluted cylinder. Uberti amkes a proper one, Pietta does not.

So this is an octagon barrel?
If so it sounds like a 5 1/2" 1851 Navy.

There are both 1862 Pocket Police and Pocket Navies based on the 1849 frame. They are .36 caliber with rebated cylinders. The Police model has a round barrel like an 1860 and half fluted cylinder where the Navy model has an octagon barrel like an 1851. Both are 5 shot and could be had in a number of barrel lengths.

My observation from his statement is that a round barrel doesn't have a flat top, so........octagon?

6 shot can't be on the 49 frame (unless converted to sub caliber like 22)

As long as the pictures include the date code and all the barrel/frame markings, we'll be able to help.

Uberti made '51 Navy pattern revolvers with 5 inch barrels a number of times over the course of their manufacturing. The latest being the Navy Army Frontiersman (2007-2009?) that had nickel plated backstrap, taller front sight, and smoothed action that was supposed to make it competition ready out of the box.
