Uberti Sharps 45-70 sight issues and resight at 300 Yards

Had to resight my sharps. Beware of BP residue on your vernier sight. I cleaned my rifle but probably neglected the sight and it rusted and could not be adjusted. Soaked it in solvent and salvaged it.

Shot at 200 and 300 yards and got back on track. This target 300 yards. 405 gr bullet. APP 2f.

A 45-70 at 300yds has some drop. Great shooting.

my 45-70 load with 525gr cast bullets zeroed at 100 yards takes 52 clicks to get to 300 yards.

How do those 525's shoot at 300 compared to 405's? Thinking of trying larger bullets for longer ranges.

they both shoot pretty good at 300 yards from a rest, but the 405 FN drop lower(more clicks) and are just about out of the running out past that. I found I need a little over 1400 fps with the 525,s for the 800 yard plate shoots.

I'm thinking 1400fps will not be possible with 64gr BP. Will work out to 500 and see what happens.
