There are some beautiful guns out there, but there are also some that, um...are not. Some are old designs that were limited by available technology, some are misguided attempts at being "futuristic", and others are just plain ugly.

What is your favorite ugly gun? Mine would have to be the Kel-Tec RDB-S. I can't help but chuckle every time I see one. I think it's the front sight post that does it. I mean, the darn sight has to be 3 inches over the barrel.

A Marlin 60 I bought in pieces at a flea market $15 no stock all steel parts orange. I knocked the rust off oiled it and found a ugly stock for 20$. The barrel is great compared to the outside and it shoots as good as any other 60. A great 35$ barn gun I don't have to worry about, priceless.

I have an H&R 760 that I traded a box of 20 7.62x39 bullets for years ago, it’s very worn and looks terrible, but it’s my favorite .22. It’s rusty, dirty and the safety is gone.

It’s a strange little fella, at about 35” long and it’s what I like to call a semi-auto single shot, sights are adjusted by sliding a broken toothpick to raise and lower the rear sight, which looks like it came off a BB gun. Thing weighs nothing and is accurate as any 22 I’ve ever shot, and with shorts it’s crazy quiet.

Similar...marlin 60 found in the woods where an Amish kid was trespassing and got bucked off of his horse. His dad told me to keep the gun. Stock was broken so I got a takeoff where somebody had tried rattlecan camo on it. It now has rattlecan truck bed liner over the whole gun.

730CD84B-B87A-439E-9189-C90EB2499C9E.png I have a stevens 520 that I won on gunbroker for the princely sum of $46. It had basically no finish left (“20%” would be generous), the checkering on the pump handle worn to the starting lines, and a big ol’ ugly spot weld where the bar had separated from the handle, and a chipped stock.

Before it even arrived at FFL i had to source some parts that were clearly missing from the pictures. Replaced those as he was calling in my 4473. Later I patched up the stock, replaced the broken firing pin (didnt see that one), and resprung the gun. Also found and fitted a different front end for it so i could have a 20” riot barrel and not cut down the original.

Sounds like a lot of work, but it wasnt, really. So it runs good, looks ugly. But it’s a 12 gauge that now breaks down to fit in a briefcase, it’s a Browning design, and I love it.

H&R single shot in .223; fun to shoot and not as expensive to shoot as an AR. One shot at a time slows things down.

I really want to say hi point 995, but I never did love that gun. Cheap terrible gen 1 stock, equally poor accuracy. I enjoyed messing with it but it's about the only gun I have ever grown to not like rather than growing to love. It's only compadre in that realm was a Colt DS that was rougher than a 3rd tier pirate harlotte.

First generation Hi Point 995. Loved that funky looking stock, kinda had that Planet of the Apes vibe going on. BTW, I'd love to find an old (civvy)M1 carbine and do one up they way they did in the old movies.

NIGHTLORD40K

I had one just like it, complete with the same black leather holster and spare magazine. I liked to call it the "Squirt Gun" pistol.

Ok, Keltec and HiPoint just make ugly guns... not bad guns... or guns I wouldn't own... but they are pretty ugly.

MY Broomhandle Mauser is iconic... but pretty ugly. I never cared for the looks of Mosin-Nagant rifles... I own one but it never really gave me a warm feeling like other mil surplus firearms.

Ahhh... how about on FP-45 (liberator) WWII single shot gun to get a gun? Now there is ugly!

Looks fine for greasing my truck... but not for a gun.

Can't have an ugly gun thread without something French.

I don't think I have ever seen a "pretty" AR15... but some are worse than others.

Spanish troops called it "The Pipewrench." I rather like mine.
That's a BEAUTIFUL 600!! Nothing ugly about it. !! Beautiful craftsmanship, superb polishing and fine old world rust bluing...there is nothing ugly about a squirt gun Astra. Now.... if you want ugly;

I suppose the Webley Mk VI must enter this conversation at some point. They're so damned ugly that they are beautiful. They are kind of like the muscle-bound, not too bright but cheerful and friendly kid in the High School....

They may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer and they may not be the one everybody want's to be seen with.... But they are a loyal and trustworthy friend who will always be there when the chips are down and you need them to save your butt....

So that makes them ugly and beautiful at the same time..
