Christ on a crutch. Y'all used to be the most fearsome empire on earth. Now you can't carry a blade big enough to finish the emasculation.

I hope Americans are paying attention. This is the path we are walking.

I know a guy who used to carry a UKPK. He got into a fight with someone (self-defence it was decided in the end, but he was taken in for questioning). They asked him to give them his keys, wallet etc. He said "I have a knife on me, but it's legal to carry." and they said "Ok, let's have a look at it then." So he took out his UKPK and showed it to them. The officer just said "that's an offensive weapon".

That is exactly what I am still concerned with, that the Police either don't know, or don't care about the Spyderco being exempted from the list of illegal items.

I am currently carrying my new one about with me, as I use it at work, but I would be really pissed off If I lost a £69.95 knife because some " " decided I wasn't fit to carry it.

That whole situation is so true. The Police's lack of education in this area is quite staggering, a friend of mine was a firearms office in the MET and he mentioned in passing that when Brocock's were banned, the police officers were bringing in everyone they found with airguns, going up to him saying "look Sarg', look wot we got??" to which he'd have to then swear at the offending officer and tell him to take the guy home, with his airgun as it wasn't a brocock??

I've also similar conversations (like the posts I shared with Fosbery:D ) about my firearm collection, I've had police officers tell what I've got is illegal too, "Pistols are banned, you can't have pistols!!"

NO!!!, pistols aren't banned, they where just made section 5 instead of section 1, and the act although aimed at pistols did infact emcompass all firearms under 24" in length with barrels under 12", unless they were muzzle loaders, or used for the humane destruction of animals or vermin.
As with most 'acts' to do with 'offensive weapons' in the UK, they normally ban the manufacture, sale or transfer of the item, but not the ownership. As with knives Flick, automatic, butterfly etc, you can not buy (legally) in the UK, but within the confinds of your own home are perfectly legal to posess.

I am currently sporting a 1" cut on my middle finger from a razor sharp UKPK

Lucky you, I accidently dropped my UKPK down my arm whilst sitting on the sofa, didn't think anything of it until a few minutes later when a 8" slice opened up on my arm:barf:

Looks like I tried to 'TOP' myself:evil:
