I'm looking at this component for an upcoming project, but at 200 buks plus shipping, I'm in need of more information first.

Note: The rifle pictured above is not mine, and am only posting it for reference, and is something that I most likely will want it for.

Here's the rifle that I am most likely going to install it on....

Anyone out there using one?

A few other questions....

1. How much does this system weigh with all it's respective hardware.

2. The above claims that this will allow co-witness with a few specific dot style optics. However..... Is this a true co-witness?

Gotta get to work.
Any help would be appreciated.

It's a true cowitness with an Aimpoint if you get a low enough ring for it. It's aluminum so it's extremely light.

I sold mine because I didn't like the weight of the Aimpoint, and I don't like forward-mounted optics. It looks weird and the balance is bad. Also I didn't much care for how it attaches directly to the barrel, although it didn't really cause any problems.

I have two Ultimaks one each on two different AK's.
It is a matter of training with them to get used to the slight weight they and a small red dot provide. The benifit to me far outweighs (pun intended) the weight it adds to the muzzle.
I sling up when I fire and now after 6 mos with them hardly notice a difference.
I am thinking of getting one for my Garand.
Thanks

Here is what I'm looking at currently to mount on the M8 rail...

Here is the runner up if the SPARC will not sit low enough on the M8 rail to co-witness...

I have tried a few different fwd mounted systems on my M1A-A1, and Socom before, but didnt care for them much, as none were low enough to co-witness with the iron sights.
I did like the fact that the action is clear/open (unlike a receiver mount). It also allows use of the M14/M1A cartridge clip guide without removing the mount

This type of rail looks like it might be what I'm looking for.

Anyone have pics of an M8 rail mounted on an M14S/M1A that they would care to share?
