Ultimak or UTG Quad Rail

I have the UTG on an ORF AK-74. It was cheap so I just took a chance on it as there was not much at stake. It was well worth the $60 or so I spent on it. The system fits solid, was easy to install, and provides a good option for adding various accessories. My 74 lacked a side rail, so I needed something for a dot sight. I had a spare JPoint laying around and put it up front on the UTG. It has been plenty stable to hold zero. A spare M3 I had went on the side, and it makes for a fun package for the range. I cannot comment as to durability under harsh use, but it is certainly adequate for plinking. It seems better built to me than some of the rail equipped polymer hand guards I have seen. The rail covers are also nice, fitting securely but not too hard to force on/off once you get the method down.

Is it as nice as a B&T rail system? No way. But then you could drive fence posts into the ground with a B&T system and not damage it. If you are taking your AK into battle, I would choose that. But to just setup a nice package for the range or home defense, I would say the UTG is as good as any other inexpensive rail system alternative.
