Pretty much there!

Used a modified AR-15 front sight post

Rear sight pretty much the same as the .22, though taller, and with the aperture piece attached to the front instead of rear for flatter folding.

Difficult to photograph a sight picture while holding the rifle! Lol. It looks huge with the camera right up to it, but the aperture is only .085"

Decided to do a fluted thread protector. 7075-T651

Decided on a spring loaded plunger type retention system for keeping the barrel folded. The plunger is black ABS. I'll do a nicer knob later, had this 5/16" shoulder bolt handy for now. The end of the plunger seats in a .250" diameter, .200" deep hole in the front of the front sight.

Final weight: 56.4 ounces (3.53 lbs).

Now the fun part. Sanding out tool marks

It's....Sooo.... Pretty....

Can I get one? Yeah, I know...

Nice work! Out of curiosity, what kind of group size are you expecting? I know that I asked that with your black powder revolver, but I was joking that time...

I truly have no idea. The .22 groups 1-1/4" at 50 yards, and the barrel liner is from the same manufacturer, so I would think similar, but we'll just have to wait and see!

Thanks for taking the time to document this build for all of us. Its awesome to see a craftsman at work, especially with such a nice finished product at the end. Only constructive critisizm I can offer is to have someone film for you. Your video was concise and informative, spoken well, and even well lighted, but someone else filming allows you to more easily focus on presentation. Overall though, very few could duplicate your quality of filming, let alone your machining and problem solving abilities! My hat is off to you, nicely done! Now I want one...

Incredible work.

If that design ever makes it to mass production and finds its way onto Bud's, I'd probably buy two.

Don't know why I didn't think to show this earlier, but this is a fringe benefit of having mag compatibility with the also very light weight DB9FS. This is with both fully loaded (30 rounds combined) with 124 gr. ammo. The scale is set to pounds:

As an aside, the DB9FS is a gun that has really grown on me. I bought it as a knock around when Bud's had the grey version on sale briefly for $264, and it's actually proven a very fun, accurate, reliable pistol. It's like a Glock, but lighter, more ergonomic, better looking and half the price!

The Sniper Grey Cerakote going on this rifle and the .22 version will be pretty close to the grey on the DB9FS, too. Little darker.

Got to throw a Silencerco Hybrid supressor on it today, and I'm happy to report that she ran just fine with it! What's more, it would seem my fast lock time doesn't give residual gasses much time to escape back through the chamber; I'm used to inhaling a good bit more when shooting suppressed guns, but there really wasn't a detectable increase with this one. Will have to get some high speed video to see if my hypothesis is correct, but I'm just glad the light bolt still keeps the breech closed with a can on the end!

That's awesome! You should post the high-speed if you get a chance. We're all over here drooling...

Doesn't anyone here know somebody who knows somebody who knows someone that could help get these on the market? The whole 5 degrees of separation thing aught to help us out!

I'm not able to see the pics in your post. Except for post #16. Different cam, format, I don't know.

I have read all the posts in the thread and would like to see some pics.. (if you have another way?)

Photobucket has been having some serious issues, so I moved a bunch of pictures into separate albums to expedite searching, and that unfortunately killed the links. I'd have to go through each post one at a time, and I'm not able to edit these older posts.

Maybe a bored mod can go through them for me? Each pic will need this inserted right before the image code:

Yeah Photobucket lacks any real funding and the Ads are crazy. I don't even use it anymore and I have a lot of pics I need to pull off there and close the account. Used to be a great way to store and share pics!
