Unconventional carry mode?

It seems that most here use IWB, OWB, or pocket carry for CC. Some have even recommended Thunderwear, ankle holsters, and fanny packs.


There's two other carry modes that intrigue me...but before I spend the money...have you all have any experience with the two below:

Does anyone here use belly bands?
Holster undershirts?

Should I even consider the two mentioned above?
 
I've not used either, but the belly band makes more sense to me than the undershirt carry. My concern would be that the band would be too tight for an effective draw, and hot on the body.
 
I foolishly bought an undershirt holster. It seemed like a great concept but I failed to realize that while it worked great with a lightweight blue gun, the weight of my 1911 caused it to sag down to my waist. I think it might be ok with a small light gun but dont let them tell you that you can carry anything large. I still cant believe that I was so foolish.
 
The "belly band works well with a smaller weapon. Remember it can get hot, so it's best saved for cool weather. Also it is one of the slowest carry methods around, but everything is a trade off.
 
My friend has a leather coat with a built in holster inside it, and he wears that about 7 months of the year. He's carried a full size 1911, an EAA Witness fullsized, an S&W 5906, and a CZ97B in it, and it works great. He says he has forgotten the gun is even there until he takes it off. The other months he wears an IWB holster and carries an S&W 3913, or one of his S&W J Frame .38's. Some idiot tried to hold him up last winter, he had an RG .22 revolver, and about passed out when the Witness, one of the new ones with the rail on it, came out with a green laser on him. He couldn't bail out fast enough. He took off and the cops couldn't find him, but he ran into two women who he tried to rob in the parking lot of a movie theatre, and one of them was CCW'ing too, and he got busted. I want one of those coats, but they are a lot of money, and I can't find the website anymore.

Not necessarily. I often carry a Glock 19 in one.

In a church security role, I often have to carry covertly and use a belly band under my tucked shirt. It is slow, but you can get pretty fast pulling out your shirt and drawing.

This works better than a t-shirt holster in my experience:

It works well if you wear a tank-style t-shirt over it as it pulls the gun in tighter to your body, but still leaves the grip free for drawing.

I have worn mine under dress shirts and found it easy to either leave a button undone under a tie, or you can undo a button and reach in.

Obviously, this carry works best with guns that don't have protrusions.
 
I spend 5 days a week in dress clothes so carry was a bit difficult before I found my holster. I wear a soft shoulder holster from deepconceal.com and it's a dream. It has a shoulder strap to prevent sagging and holds my PF-9, MP40c, or Sig P229 easily and invisibly. I'm a HUGE fan to say the least.
 
Tonight I went to a community meeting wearing denim slacks with a draw string tie and a relatively long polo outside the pants. I carried a M39 in a iwb that pivots and the rig rode in the crease of my right goin. An extra mag was on the left hipjust behind the bone. This rig rode on a soft cotton belt and it is comfortable and you can't tell it. The rig is independent. I put it on right after my shorts. :) Oh, BTW, its 95 degrees round these parts.
