Im in the market for a new glock. I have narrowed the decision down to the model 19, 23, 29, or 30. There are the obvious advantages to each due to size concealability firepower and capacity but does anyone else have any first hand pros/cons for any of the above models that I may not have noticed or thought about and where do you weigh in on the 9mm, 40S&W, 10mm and .45 ACP. the gun is going to be a double dute piece for CCW and pleasure shooter. throw me some of your knowledge. thanks in advance.

I tried them all on for size at the shop and for me the Glock 19 is the perfect size. Plus I like the fact that it holds 15+1. It's small enough for concealed carry and the 9mm ammo is reasonably priced.
I have a couple of 1911s and love a .45 but the high cap of the 19 did it for me.
If you do some research on different forums, I think you'll find very few bad comments about the G19. From what I've read it's Glock's most popular model.

G 19

My vote for the choices you have given would be for the G 19. It make for a great carry weapon, great range gun and has a wide section of ammo to chose from. The G 19 is small enough to conceal if you can/will carry it for defense. The G 19 is still large enough to shoot very well as a range gun, it is user friendly which means if you wanted other people to use your weapon you can and it fits most peoples hands and first time shooters find it pretty accurate. Ammo, practice stuff is very cheap. This means you'll spend more time at the range practicing getting better with your weapon that makes for better confidence. Remember caliber means nothing if it doesn't hit it's target, "shoot placement"!!! Defense ammo, you have 115, 124, 127, 135, 147 in standard load then you can always increase the pressure with the +P's and + P +'s.

Just my two cents.

Although I don't have a Glock 19, I am seriously considering one. I think it would be good for CCW due to the size and weight, it has a relatively high capacity, plus a wide range of ammo availability at a relatively lower cost.

Hard decision, that's why I ended up, eventually over time, with all four.:D
For conceal carry (in an IWB holster) I find the G29/G30 conceals a little bit better (less grip to print) than the G19/G23. However, less ammo carry capacity, obviously with the G29 (10+1) and the G30 (9+1/10+1 (depending on which mag used)) over both the G19 (15+1) and the G23 (13+1). The G29/G30 is a little bit wider than the G19/G23 (which doesn't seem to bother me much when I carry, but some don't care for it). The cheapest to shoot a lot is obviously the G19, so I don't know if that weighs with you in your decision. I guess basically, decide on the caliber you want to carry first and you should then have your answer.;)

If I were in the market for a GLOCK, I would consider the G-19 as well.
Accurate, reliable, and still plenty of 9m/m ammo available as we speak~! ;)

The G-30 (.45ACP) is too thick for comfortable carry, the G-29 ammo (10m/m)
is not widely available; you can't walk in Wally World and purchase it, so the
G-19 makes it the obivious choice [at least for me]~! :scrutiny:;):D

Oh~! I forgot to mention that I can't shoot the G-23 (.40 S&W) worth
a HOOT~!

I'm Another supporter of the Glock 19. I believe the Glock 19 is the best 9mm ever produced. While I'm a big Glock Fan I don't like Glock in teh .40 I think HK & Sig produce a better product in that caliber. In the .45 I'm a 1911 guy all the way. I don't like to mess wiht perfection. The Glock 19 is hte perfect gun for the 9mm round.

IF 9mm is your caliber of choice I'd get the Glock 19, or 17, or 26 or 34 all are best of breed.

Go with the 29 and don't look back! More of everything than the others and ammo is NOT A PROBLEM. I buy at any of three local gun stores in my town of only 20,000 population. 10mm is probably the most under rated, least appreciated round out there. Why worry about light and fast vs. heavy and slow when you can have heavy and fast? How does 200gr at 1225fps grab you? Plus in the 29 you get more rounds in the magazine than in the 30.

some 29 questions

I personally want the 29, especially now that there is a tactical rail on the bottom. However I'm looking at conversions also and noticed that the 23 can be converted to .357 sig as well as 9mm. I know the 29 can be converted to 40 with barrel kit but does anyone else know of any other caliber conversions available in 9mm or 45 for the 29?

My preference is (almost) the order listed in the OP post. I would get the 19 first, then the 23, followed by the 30 and 29. I have all but the 29 (I have a 20, though). It is my belief that the 19 is probably the most versatile of the 4. It's a viable chambering for SD, but ammo is cheap enough for range plinking. I will admit that the 10mm is a blast to shoot.

Get the 19

I'll add another vote for the 19.

It's the perfect combo of size, power and capacity.

You could carry a cannon, but a lot of the bad guys are wearing vests these days and it takes precision to make those head shots.

(I know that some of the readers here have the ability to shoot the .357 SIG with great precision--even while being shot at.....but most of us normal people shoot the 9 a little better.)

I honestly would go with the .357 if I felt confident with it......but I don't.

If you have the skill and dedication to practice all the way to an expert level and sustain it, though......it's a great round.

I think that Glock did its best work when they developed their 9mm line up & the mid size G19 is the cream of that crop -- get the G19 :D
