Ya know I am a huge fan of the 44 Special. Have 3 and one is my ccw.1995 Rossi 720.
Just bought a box of 190 lead SWHP with advertised muzzle velocity of 1150.
I'm getting 975 out of mine. That equates to 400 ft pounds of muzzle energy.
These rounds will get your attention. If you're on the wrong side of em, I'd say it's more than likely you're done.
Big bore rounds will leave an impression. rossi 720.jpg_thumbnail1.jpg

I just went the opposite with that and ordered a bunch of 44 Russian. I could shoot my 296 all day with that stuff.

Of course, I'm not carrying it, just shooting it for fun.

I'm sure they are adequate, but do not confuse recoil or the somewhat larger diameter with effectiveness.

After seeing the price of premium 44SPL, I decided making my own would prove most economical.

Excellent. In this crazy shooting society where smaller caliber bullets are somehow more effective than larger caliber bullets (pixie dust, maybe?), I'll take the larger caliber.

Actual large caliber (.44 and .45) bullets recovered from actual (former) living mammals-

I have shot this load in a S&W M.69 2.75" and a M.396 NG. Pretty impressive especially in the 396 NG. The Rim Rock 200gr. DEWC and 7 gr. of Unique get you pretty close.

Phssshh, tossing nerf balls…. NOT!

I shoot a 255gr Keith SWC @850fps from my M69 in .44spl cases. A buddy shot a deer with one from a 7-1/2” SuperBlackHawk at ~20yds? Bullet hit front shoulder, exited opposite ham. DRT!

Momentum of a large bore projectile has been understood for centuries.
