I have a Marlin M55 Goose Gun that a previous owner chopped the barrel on, remounted the factory bead (on a ramp), and had threaded for chokes. It looks to be professionally done; with one minor hiccup.... the choke has no branding on it. Just "Extra Full". No maker, no nada. How to tell what maker it is ? Will a thread gage from a run of the mill tap/die set help any ?

As somewhere to start, I'd take a good close-up photo (above a ruler) and post it here.

As I have 3 shotguns with different make choke tubes and visually they are all different, i.e., length overall, how far up (or down) the threads start/stop, length of collar (if any) above the threads towards the muzzle, etc.

I had a 20ga barrel threaded for chokes many years ago by Carlson's, and it takes Tru-Choke tubes. I believe this is a common threading for non-factory chokes. The Brownell's page lists some thread specs for reference. The thread gage from your tap and die set should have 32tpi, but not sure if it will have a 44tpi.

This company did a lot of conversions back in the day. I'd bet the odds are better than 50/50 it is theirs. You may be able to look at photos of their tubes to compare or even contact them.
