Looks great! I like the matte black. Did the duracoat come as an aerosol or do you have a spray gun?

Doc...like I said on the other forum (Prosecutor here)...more pics please.:D

I like what you did with your carry piece. Do you bead blast yourself? I saw a bead blast box at Harbor Freight and may have a reason to buy it now.

I just used one that a friend has, but I need to buy an inexpensive, simple blaster from Harbor Freight.

With limited garage space I'm not sure I'll used it often enough to justify the expense though.

I don't work on old cars as much as I used to, and that's where I would maximize its use.

Lookin good Doc. You'll have your hammer back in a couple days. Attached is a picture of your bobbed and checkered hammer.

1. DuraCoat? is that the aerosol cans I see at the hardware store?

2. How does it hold up, holster wear and all?

3. Looks like a do it yourself project in the basement??????

Nice looking Colts. I've never really considered "painting" a gun with one of those wonder coatings. How well does the finish hold up?

I'd also be afraid I'd never get all those little parts back inside the gun right. :(

I used an airbrush to apply it, but my gunsmith did the disassembly and reassembly.

That's my workbench in the garage and works ok for small projects like this.

Like any finish, it will wear on the sharp edges if worn daily.

Otherwise, I think it holds up well, and it's easy to touch up if necessary.

The keys seem to be the prep and mixing properly.
