Well a bit ago I posted the ubiquitous problematic Kimber Solo and I now have an update on what happened. My Wife and attended the last NRA show and met with Kimber and chatted them up a bit about the Solo. It was basically the same conversation I had had numerous times. Bad ammo, bad shooting ability bad everything but the gun. I went with the honey works better then … Anyway, we chatted for some time reviewing all the different ammo, cleaning, sending it back, more ammo, gun classes etc. Then "Scott" told us it would be his responsibility to review the gun. He asked that I send in a letter and pics of everything we had been telling him over the last hour or so. When we got back home I sent him a letter and pics of the custom holster and mag holder. Another pic of about 10 boxes of different ammo that had been purchased. I sent this along with the gun and waited. Well today I got a call from Kimber who said that I could have another Solo or a credit for the gun to use on any other Kimber. The Wife had fallen in love with the Evo from their custom shop during the show. She ordered that and a Kimber knife for the difference. After some six years this happened. I just can't hardly believe it! Thanks Kimber.

So then, the takeaway is that in order to get a solo running right you have to: jump through tons of due-diligence hoops, talk to Kimber Scott at an NRA convention, then trade it towards something else entirely?

I’m glad they made it right-ish, but would’ve been nice if they’d skipped the “you must be doing something wrong” on the front end. I’m not exactly kicking myself for passing on the opportunity to purchase one of these otherwise-gorgeous guns.
