I have posted some results in Handloading about my new found load that shoots good in the gun, but I have to give the Hogue grips some credit as well. I put the Hogue grips on my SBH in .44 Mag, and the gun is way more controllable now.
I am shooting IMR 4227 @ 22.0 grains with a MO Bullet CO 240 grain LSWC. @ 20 yards today open handed and a 5 shot string I was able to put 3 into one hold, and two into another about 1/2" away. The three were in the X ring, and the others of course were in the 10 ring.

I think there might be hope for me and this revolver after all. I know some do not think the Hogue belongs on the SA revolver, but I like it. It is not as attractive, but looks do not put food on the table. At least not for me. :)

So if you have a SA big bore with the smaller wood grips, and are having troubles with control. For $18 you could resolve your problem. Not much at all for the gain you get.

I'm not familiar with the Hogue's, but do know what you mean. I've had a SBH with the 10" barrel for almost 30 years now. Before I put a set of Pachmayr Presentation grips on it, I hated shooting it. One reason is the chunk that square trigger guard always took out of the middle finger knuckle of the shooting hand. The other was that it was a problem to control.

The Pachmayr's cured that and that handgun harvested my first deer. It's a very good shooter, but I haven't had it to the range for a couple years now.

My Redhawk also benefited from a set of Pachmayr Presentations. Much easier to control, much better accuracy. The Pachmayr Grippers didn't help at all, though. I don't get along with finger grooves.

Brought home this 44 mag just recently:

My favorite shooter is my Ruger SRH Alaskan 44 mag and it came stock with big beefy rubber hogue tamer grips. I've easily shot 150 rounds of mildly loaded 44 mag down range and I had a great time.

Took the S&W 29-3 down range today with the pretty wood grips and I could not shoot more than 2 rounds of the same mildly loaded 44 mags, I think it almost broke my thumb

I'll definitely be replacing them with some Hogues by the next range trip.

About 30 years ago I had some Herrett's stocks made to measure for my hand, and put them on a Super Blackhawk. (I think they cost $29.50 at the time. :D) It reduced the revolver's tendency to buck and rear straight up in my hand and bark my knuckles with the square back of the trigger guard. By filling in this area, the Hogue grip does basically the same thing.

Zombie, those 'are' Hogues! Rubber won't help if the contour is the same. They're not too bad but I find them to be a little on the narrow side and the ambidextrous palm swells irritate me.

Sorry meant to say Hogue rubber grips :D Actually I wasn't even sure what grips they were, I just knew they weren't factory so that's good to know. So far I haven't been disappointed by Hogue rubber grips on my other revolvers (SP101 and SRH Alaskan) so I'm confident I'll feel some improvement in comfort over these wood grips.

I am one that reall likes the Hogue rubber grips and have added to a couple revolver. The Hogue make the factory rubber grips for several companies too. I hate pachmayr's.

I have the Super Black Hawk Silver 5 1/2" Barrel that has the rounded trigger guard. The grips were not easy to put on, but they did go on, and they fit.

I can tell you know that control of the gun with powerful rounds is way better, and I have found that with IMR4227 (22.0) grains, Win Primers, Win Brass, and Missouri Bullets LSWC 240 grain 18 hardness. The gun offhand at 15 yards put 3 in one hole, and two about 1/2 away into another hole. I think I have a 44 Magnum that I can live with now. Before the grips.. The load testing was brutal. Not because of pain, but just not being able to be consistent with the grip.
