This isn't really a range report since many far more qualified people have been down that road already. I just thought I would share the impressions of a new 1911 owner on his first .45.

I have owned the Springfield loaded for approx 20 days now.

As of todays range trip I have shot 3000 rounds through it. Most of the ammo was WWB 230gr, UMC 230, American Eagle 230, and then 4 boxes of Rem Golden Saber185 gr +P(which is a pretty thrilling load to shoot) This pistol makes me want to go to the range. I could never say that about my other pistols.

I have had exactly 2 malfunctions. The first was at about round 250 and basically the brass stayed under the extractor. I had to use a screwdriver to gently get the brass out. The second malf was like a stove pipe but the case was laying down in the port instead of sticking straight up. I have been hit in the face with brass about 3 times.

I have replaced the grips with some rubber Hogue ones with a wrap around. I replaced the MSH with an Ed Brown, and a 18# wolf MS and Wilson cap retainer and pin. I put an ed brown standard recoil rod and plug on it as well. I basically did all that so I no longer have ILS and no longer have a FLGR. Soon I will be ordering a set of Haken grips and a black trigger. (just for looks forgive me) I also need to order a ton of magazines and I think the "loaded" coupon may come in handy for that.

I am extremely happy with it thus far. I won't get into the accuracy of the pistol as I am a horrible shot as it were. I will say that I shoot it better than my Beretta Vertec and my Glock. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it all over again but I might opt for a dull stainless finish instead of the greyish parkerized finish.
