i got that o/u and soon after had problems with it switching over between barrels when fireing.. i took it to the gunsmith and he cleaned it. said i would have no more problems. well i did, infact the gun fired without pulling the trigger today and today i got a fun suprise when i shot at a skeet and both barrels fired :what: .. we laughed about that. but i'm gonna retire the gun, for the gun smith to tighten the saftey and clean the trigger mech it was 50 bones. i'd rather just get a new gun. also when i stopped using the clubs shells and used some remmi 1 1/8 it did pretty well did however still missfire.

What kind of gift O/U was this? From your description, it sounds like a junker. Apparently it was not new or you would have returned it for service. I have never had any problems with Browning Citori O/U's in 25+ years of shooting them.

Good shooting and be safe.

you should take it back to the gunsmith and have him fix it free of charge.

it dry fires properly everytime and occasionally missfires and fires for no reason when shooting shells, i have no proof and at the gunsmiths shop it fired 6 shells no problem. wich yes it does can and has fired multiple shells with no problems but 8 out of a hundred probably don't fire properly.. the gun is done unless i get a new trigger and saftey mech. just unsafe and pointless to put that much work into.

Something ain't right and dangerously so. That smith have a decent rep on shotguns? If you can't find a decent smith, yeah, I'd retire it, too. My Sarasqueta has double triggers. That's a LOT simpler system and it's still reliable after all these years of abuse and still kills birds. After your story and a few others I've heard on this site about single selective triggers in inexpensive guns, I'm more and more a double trigger kinda guy. :D

Only time mine ever fired both barrels, I was a little off balance with my feet buried in mud in the marsh and my finger slipped off the front trigger on the first shot and slapped the rear trigger and I had to have help getting back off my butt. :banghead: I had two friends hunting with me and I don't think I've heard the last of it.:D They seemed to think it was quite funny for some odd reason.

You might try:

Somarriba Inc. 12161 s.w. 131 ave. Miami, Fl 33186 (305) 252-6677

I got this from someone on this site as a possible parts source, but never tried calling it. I would like new stocks/wood for mine and need to try it. Of course, Sarasqueta has been out of business for quite a while now.

JMB: "it dry fires properly everytime and occasionally missfires and fires for no reason when shooting shells"

Sounds like something is worn inside such that recoil from the first shot causes the second hammer to fire also. I would NOT fire it unless new parts are obtained and properly fitted to correct problem. Of course, cost of such parts and work may be more than the gun is worth. In any case, the current situation is dangerous as well as unpleasant.

Good shooting and be safe.

i agree completley, today was this guns last shoot.

GUN FOR SALE GUYS TAKING BIDS NOW!!! :neener:

just kidding.

The Felix Sarasqueta gun was imported in 1986 only according to my sources.

That's kinda hard for me to believe since I bought mine in 1971. It was imported through FIE Miami. I'd say your source was erroneous. It's most likely right, unfortunately, about a source for parts. I might call that number later just to see if anyone answers. I'd like a new set of wood for mine on the off chance any has survived for 36 years, probably a waste of time, but I might try.

The source was the 2006 Standard Catalog of Firearms. It is probably because they cited SAE, Inc. in Miami as the importer. There may have been others before that.

Yeah, it was probably listed as an FIE gun. It has Felix Sarasqueta y Cia Eibar Spain stamped on it and "FIE Miami Florida" on another spot. I THINK by the late 80s, Sarasqueta had gone out of business completely.

There was a Sarasqueta before Felix (an uncle IIRC) that built higher end guns. Felix built nice guns, but to a lower price point and a cousin or brother after him made some junk for a while, as I recall. Mine's pretty well retired, but not really from a mechanical problem. I just don't have much of a use for it in a steel shot world. It's not steel compatible and the barrels are mod/full. It's a 12 gauge and kicks like a mule, too. I just got a 20 gauge double and I sorta prefer my Mossy 500 and my Winchester 1400 autochucker for waterfowl and doves and such. So, the old Sarasqueta, while I have too many good memories with it to ever sell it, resides in a special spot in my toy box reserved for royalty.:D It still shoots, though!
