For all who've been praying for Carlyle Hebert (SouthLa1 on THR and TFL), an update. As you know, he contracted a very rare and hard-to-treat form of pneumonia, and was at death's door for a few days, not responding to the drugs that were administered. I called his wife yesterday, and she tells me that he is at last making progress, although not out of the woods yet. She says that the ventilator was adjusted on Saturday to get his own lungs to share the load of breathing, and so far they are holding up. Today (Monday), if all goes well, they'll try turning off the ventilator to see if his lungs can hold up on their own. If so, then he's turned the corner: if not, it's back on the ventilator until they can figure out something else to try.
She says also that he had a similar attack of pneumonia about five years ago, which left him with about 20% less lung function/capacity than he'd had before the illness. We need to be praying not only for his recovery from this illness, but that his lungs are not further affected by it.
I'll keep you posted on any updates that I receive. Keep praying, y'all!
