Upgrading a M&P15?

A sling for a rifle is like a holster for a pistol. That should be your first purchase IMO. The BFG VCAS is the way to go on that. I generally like Magpul stuff but the MS2 was godawful and the MS3 still isn't as good as the VCAS. The Troy two point battle sling is another ripoff of the VCAS. Still not as good but at least better than the MS3. As cheap as the BFG slings can be had (I just picked one up in multicam for $29 OTD) there's really no reason to go with something else. Three point slings are garbage. One points have their place but the applications are pretty limited.

If you're going to use the gun for home defense I'd go with a white light next. Surefire Fury is what I run, 500 lumens and ~$120. The VTAC mount is good if you can't afford a LaRue. If you aren't going to use it in a home defense role, get an optic instead of a light.

The PRO is a good choice and is relatively inexpensive. Picked up a used but like new one the other day for $300 still in the box. I strongly prefer the Aimpoint micros but they are quite a bit more expensive. The mount the PRO comes with is completely adequate, but as others have mentioned LaRue is the best of the best.

Indeed. The VCAS is the best sling I've ever used on an AR.
