Are the US made AUGs fom Microtech and TPD out yet? If so what are the impressions of them. There was a lot of hype and then nothing. Of the two what company will be around to support the rifle? Witch one seams to have "staying power" the AXR or the STG 556? I like the Idea of the Ar15 mag compatability of the AXR.

Neither has hit the streets yet.
Both are still getting finalized, and both PJ's and TPD have been releasing info as to the progression of their rifles.

The keltec bullpup will probably be out before either US made AUG. They both seem to be in a continual "next year" cycle.

email the guys at microtech, they will put you on a waiting list. Last I contacted them they had released a couple hundred to ones already at the top of the list.

I am oddly excited by the idea of owning an AUG, and I really don't know why. When I was in Somalia, we were camped next to some guys from the New Zealand Air Force, and my platoon built up a pretty good friendship with them. Long story short, we let them blast away with our AR's, and they let us blast away with their AUG's. I found it to be a pretty neat little rifle, although I thought that for general combat the good ol' M16A2 was the better choice. Provided that they are reasonably priced, I will very likely buy one as soon as I can.

Poor El T, he said the same thing about the FS2000, the PS90, the XCR, and the Sig 556. All of them are out (in varying quantities, yes I know, but I've had all of them in stock at one point).

Are you starting to feel like the last member of the Flat Earth Society?

:D

Thank you oh so much El T. I do so enjoy the sensation of hot coffee in my nasal passages.:p

FEEL THE WRATH OF THE BADGER!

I almost said Taste The Wrath, but we all know that it would taste like sushi, and that really isn't that intimidating. :)

TimboKhan, how was the trigger on those military AUGs?

Man, thats actually a pretty hard question... I mean, this would have been 15 years ago (!). To be honest, I don't remember exactly, although it seems like I liked the M16A2 trigger better. I want to say that the one I fired was a little gritty. Manageable, but not great. I wish I had a better answer for you, but thats all I really remember.

Look!

over there, behind that bush! It's a Unicorn!
no, wait, it's an AUG.....
Never Mind.

I can hardly wait to not be able to afford one of these.

The triggers on teh burst guns wasn't that great, but not as bad as a VP70Z. You can get a "trigger tamer" to drop in to reduce pull wt to about 6 lbs, and hopefully the US AUG's will accept it, or have a similar setup built in.

Wait, if that AUG clone isn't out, what was I handling for $1,800 or thereabouts at the gunstore last month?
