US made AUG's?

Does anyone know what the rationale behind the billet machined receiver on the TPD (and I think the MSAR as well) is? I thought the AUG design sufficiently directed stress around the receiver that you could get away with using a cast one, as the original Steyr produced guns do. Using a machined, 7000-series alloy receiver seems like overkill.

Hmm... perhaps Ruger will surprise us all and announce an AUG-style rifle?

The MSAR uses a cast reciever. The castings come from Canada at 80% finished then the recievers are finished here.

The TPD uses the CNC Billet reciever.

Ruger is still pushing the Mini 14. No time for a "new" EBR from Ruger.
